Boiler plant in 1985
Background: 1982-1985
Development of the Resonor system was prompted by the oil crisis, along with mounting determination to improve air quality by shutting down 150 obsolete small boiler plants burning oil or coal.
The Resonor system dates back to autumn 1982, when it was decided to build and operate a community heating system for the city of Lille, inputting heat produced by a coal-fired power station. It took two years to complete the 80,000 kW Mont de Terre power station and the 30 km distribution system carrying superheated water at 180°.
